In the gritty landscape of urban fiction, few series promise to capture the raw intensity of law enforcement's struggle against the criminal underworld quite like CRACKDOWN.

Q: First things first, thank you for your service.
Sonny: It’s nothing.
Q: Where’re you from?
Sonny: New York.

Q: As both co-creator and the face of Santana “Sonny” Jaxon, what drew you to this complicated character?
Sonny: Yo! When David and I first started developing CRACKDOWN, we wanted to create something raw, with a taste of comic-book action. Sonny isn’t your regular hero; he’s down bad, fighting the kind of demons that return from the past while he’s trying to protect Freeland in the present. His fantastical reinstatement after losing his way…now that’s not something you read every day in fiction, and I think fans will connect with that struggle the most.

Q: What can you tell us about the challenges Sonny faces in this story?
Sonny: Man, Sonny’s facing battles on all fronts. There’s this new drug called Wrath that turns its abusers into savages. Then there’s this weight he carries, this past that haunts him. And just when he thinks he’s getting his footing, Sonny becomes the hunted when this guy named Nico enters the picture—he’s a real problem—just wait until this dude gets his hands on that Striker-12!
Q: South Freeland feels like a character in itself in this story. Tell us more.
Sonny: David had a crystal-clear vision of Freeland City that had the perfect blend of organized crime, corporate corruption, unthinkable horror, and street-level power. But then there’s South Freeland itself, where capital, poverty, authority, and desperation exist side by side. Trust me, Freeland’s got layers, man, just like its characters.

Q: Speaking of Wrath, the nasty narcotic seems so parallel to real-life cases. Was that intentional?
Sonny: Absolutely. Look, I’ve seen what real drugs can do. Wrath isn’t just another made-up drug—it’s a metaphor for how crime and violence can ruin communities, and David wanted to capture the impact Wrath has, not just on users, but on everyone around them.
Q: Without giving too much away, what scene are you most excited for readers to experience?
Sonny: Chapter One: The Price of Return. The way David originally wrote it—all three characters with their separate motivations colliding all at once—it’s perfect. When readers hit that part, they’re going to understand exactly what CRACKDOWN is all about.

Q: What influences shaped your approach to Sonny and the saga in its entirety?
Sonny: Man, David’s creative universe is something else. He’s got the gritty realism of classic police dramas, the psychological depth behind his characters, and the deep complexities of each and every one of his bad guys. But what really influenced me beyond Become Wanted Entertainment was seeing how police heroes deal with the daily pressure of walking that thin blue line.

Q: What can readers expect from CRACKDOWN?
Sonny: They can expect a story that pulls no punches. Every chapter reveals another layer of South Freeland’s gangster-circus. But the book is also about hope and second chances, too. It’s about people trying to do right in a city that makes it damn hard.
Q: Any final words for your fans?
Sonny: Right. This isn’t just another cop narrative. David has created something very special here, and I’m simply thankful to bring Sonny’s likenesses to life.

And so, until the release of CRACKDOWN, stay strong, stay human, and remember: sometimes the hardest person to save is yourself.
